Berlin Marathon

Freezing motion while at the same time capturing speed, power and dynamic, is a great way to explore the limits of photography. Sports is a perfect playground for this exercise and I love doing it. Whenever I am in Berlin in September, I try to get a shot of these incredibly fast athletes from Keny and Ethiopia. However, every time I am there, I realize that life is so much more diverse and feel deep respect for all those participating.

The effect of motion results from long shutter speeds and following the movement of the athletes. It looks like some Photoshop-arts-filter, but is out-of-cam. For editing I chose to eliminate the greens and yellows and do some other basic adjustements. The before-and-after below might give you an impression.
